Blueprint is media partner for the Perfume Garden by architect Laurie Chetwood and horticulturalist Patrick Collins, which will be a highlight of the Chelsea Flower Show (19-23 May).
Based on the original recipe for a perfume created for Queen Elizabeth I, the Perfume garden will be a reminder of the period when horticulture first became fashionable. The Elizabethan scent will be recreated in an apothecary located in the centre of a spiraling structure that doubles as a wind turbine. To celebrate, we are running a competition to win a pair of tickets:
How does the sense of smell affect our experience of architecture?
Smell is probably the most neglected of the senses, yet the scent of a place often has the most immediate, powerful and lasting impact on us.
To win two tickets to the show describe, in no more than 100 words, your most recent memory of the scent of a building or place. Send your description to info@blueprintmagazine.co.uk by the end of the day today (Monday 27 April).
Entries will be judged by Laurie Chetwood, Patrick Collins and Vicky Richardson, editor of Blueprint and the best descriptions will be published.
