In & Out of Amsterdam: Travels in Conceptual Art, 1960-1976
MOMA, New York
This exhibition of 120 works includes drawings, installations, films, posters, and artists’ books from artists with different nationalities who either travelled to or stayed in Amsterdam during the 1960’s and 1970’s, creating a transatlantic trade in influences. Among artists who engaged with the city’s vibrant art scene are Hanne Darboven, Gilbert & George, Charlotte Posenenske, Allen Ruppersberg, and Lawrence Weiner. Many of them spent significant time in Amsterdam and often produced works related specifically to the city.

This wide-ranging exhibition on Robin Hood Gardens, the council housing complex in east London designed by Alison and Peter Smithson in the 1960’s, looks at the ever-changing landscape around the Docklands and into the lives of its residents. Photographs by Ioana Marinescu interpreting the quality of architecture, archive imagery and a documentary by Martin Ginestie document the development under threat of demolition as part of a large regeneration scheme in Blackwell.

Beyond these Walls
South London Gallery
‘Beyond these walls’ is an international group exhibition of members of specially commissioned and site-specific works around South London Gallery. Architectural intervention as well as social context are the main concepts behind the exhibition. Artists’ works include Tue Greenfort’s attempt to put a new entrance at the rear of the gallery, which visitors will have to access the gallery through Sceaux Gardens estate and also shorten the route for estate residents, and Esther Stocker’s op-art-like installation with black stripes filled the room three-dimensionally.

Prototypes and Experiments III
The Aram Gallery
Prototypes and Experiments III is the 3rd ‘cycle’ of the gallery’s changing exhibition, displaying the usually unseen, but crucial prototypes and experimentation of established designers which has lead them to their final products.
The exhibition allows an insight into the gradual development of design, in contrast to the final products we are sold; and provides us with a glimpse into the thoughts of the designer.
